Managing Students with Seizures —
New Epilepsy Training
for School Nurses
Through a grant from the Centers for Disease Control, the
Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho will offer training in managing
students with seizures. The program is designed for school nurses.
Participants will learn the impact of seizures on learning and
behavior; current treatment options and side effects; strategies for
creating a positive and supportive environment; issues related to
medication and administration; key components of a seizure action
plan; appropriate first aid; essential elements of seizure training for
school personnel; steps to take to help maximize educational and
developmental opportunities for student with seizures.
This important training, offering continuing education credit,
will be held in the Boise/Twin Falls area, exact date still to be
