Support Services
The following are available in both English and Spanish.
- Limited Emergency Financial Assistance for anti-epileptic drug purchases.
- Advocacy helps people with epilepsy obtain fair and impartial treatment regarding social services and their rights to employment, education and independence.
- Parent and Family Network puts families in touch so that those who are newly diagnosed may benefit from the experiences of others.
- Local Self-Help/Support Groups are available in some parts of the state. If there is not a group in your area, we may be able to assist in starting one.
- A Scholarship is awarded annually to an Idaho student with epilepsy.
- Family, individual and group counseling to empower and facilitate personal adjustment to epilepsy.
- Prevocational counseling.
- School Alert provides and excellent program for school personnel and K-12 students to help them cope effectively with epilepsy in the classroom.
- The Count Me In! program includes consultations with teachers and school nurses.
- Kids on the Block Puppets are taken into the classroom to teach children about epilepsy, friendship and how to deal with any questions that might arise.
- Speakers Bureau presents informative audio-visual talks to civic and social groups, employers, agency representatives and health professionals.
- Epilepsy Educational Literature is available.
- Professional Education is provided through conferences for physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, counselors and others.
- Audio-Visual Library contains the most current videotapes available for loan.
- Newsletter - sent out three times yearly, features information on legal rights, developments in research, and quality of life issues.
- National Epilepsy Library provides authoritative information to professionals and the public. The Library has computer access to major medical information collections.
- Referral Services aid clients in locating and obtaining legal, financial, health educational and vocational services.
