Serving all of Idaho

The Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho, established in 1971, is a non-profit agency committed to the prevention and control of epilepsy, which is a neurological disorder that causes people to have recurrent seizures. A seizure is a brief disruption of electrical activity in the brain. EFI helps people with epilepsy and their families overcome the problems associated with the disorder by offering a wide range of services. We are committed to ensuring that children and adults living with seizures have the opportunity to fully participate in all life experiences.

Epilepsy is the most common neurological disorder in children, and the third most common neurological disorder in adults after Alzheimer's and stroke. It is equal in prevalence to cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease combined. According to the Epilepsy Foundation, more than 3 million Americans have some form of epilepsy, and approximately 200,000 new cases of seizure disorders and epilepsy are diagnosed in the US each year. One in 10 people will have a seizure at some point in their lives.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho is the principal advocate for the epilepsy community in Idaho. We are an independently incorporated affiliate of the Epilepsy Foundation, the only national charitable, non-profit, voluntary agency in the United States specifically dedicated to the needs of people with epilepsy.

Epilepsy is . . .

EPILEPSY is something you HAVE not who you ARE. If you're one of them - or you know someone who is - you're not alone. We can help.
